Taking the Family to Alicante

Are you thinking of taking your next family holiday in Alicante, Spain?  There are many things for the entire family to do in the area, and the mild temperatures make it a great choice no matter what time of the year.  Kids may find some things a little boring, but if you don’t drag them through all of the museums Alicante has to offer and instead let them relax on the beach or check out some of the more kid-friendly destinations, they’re sure to repay you with a visit to a museum or art gallery.  If you plan it out and have at least one activity that you know each member of your family will enjoy, you’ll make great memories of your holiday in Alicante.

The beaches of Alicante are, of course, one of the biggest attractions for families.  There are mile upon mile of beaches in and around the city, and with such a great climate and low amount of precipitation for most of the year you can almost always enjoy a sunny day on the golden sands.  One of the main beaches is Playa del Postiguet.  Located near the heart of Alicante, it sits near the bottom of Mount Benacantil.  You will find plenty of bars and cafes near the beach as well so you can enjoy a refreshing beverage while watching the waves come in.

There are a number of other nice beaches in Alicante, too.  Playa del Coco, Playa de la Albufereta, Playa de la Almadraba, and Cabo de las Huertas are all situated near Alicante.  You can also take the tram to Playa de San Juan, a beautiful beach that is ranked as one of the best in all of Spain.  There’s also an 18-hole golf course located near the beach for those who love golfing.

If you have teens along with you, especially teenage girls, taking them shopping at El Corte Ingles is a great way to spend an afternoon.  This huge department store has everything from cosmetics and handbags to music and toys.  You will find many different designer name products for prices much lower than you’d see elsewhere, so it’s a great place to find a number of bargains.

If you have done a car hire alicante airport, you’ll be in a good position to venture outside the city itself and take the family to some other great attractions.  Aqualandia is located about 30 minutes from Alicante, and it is the largest waterpark in Europe.  You’ll find amazing rapids rides, water slides, and swimming pools here.  You can bet your kids will love spending the day getting wet and splashing around in the pools.

Another place to visit is Vergel Safari Park.  You’ll find many different exotic animals at this part, which recreates a safari adventure.  Lions, tigers, and zebras can be seen in the various different habitats that make up the safari park.  It’s a great way to see the many animals of Africa and Europe without actually going out on an adventure into the wilderness.
